Balance
By Van Halen
see relatedSpin and Fly
I watch from the sidelines as you jump into the current of the thrill. You've always had the willingness to spin or fly. Me? No thanks. I want my feet on the ground. I'd walk barefoot in most places if they'd let me. My feet reaching toward the source from within the earth. I watch you thought, and see how you release to life in another way, yet still connect to that energy that drives us forward. You and I, we are polar opposites. From there we find a balance. Spin and fly, my friend. Me? I'll be here, on the ground, watching the balance in creation's pulse.
The weekly photo challenge: Festival or Theme Park Ride, was suggested by Photographics. Any and all are welcome to play.

I remember ONCE I went on one of those... and the entire time my mom was yelling, "MEG, OPEN YOUR EYES!" I was little, you see... and I had squeezed my eyes shut in fright... but supposedly, rides like that are easier if you actually open your eyes and look.
Needless to say - I never went on a ride like that again... they scare the beejeebies out of me. Cool way to incorporate the photo!
@Passionflwr86 - Thank you. They just make me dizzy. Eye's open or shut, I'm much better off taking the pictures and thinking about balance.
Nowadays, I get dizzy watching those things.
This is really a nice shot!! :)
I'd spin and fly too! :)
I love those swing things! But I like my feet on the ground too! Now, rollercoasters? Forget it!
@wematter - I tend to lean against the fence or find a seat for the same reason.
@guestbrief - Thank you, Rhonda. There were only three on the challenge so far. I'll be over to see yours.
@Donna7 -
Wheeeeee.
@heart_beep - I hold my breath on rollercoasters. The whole ride. (gulp)
@Jaynebug - I hate the going up hill part. I feel like I'm going to fall backwards!
@heart_beep - That is the impending doom part.
Oh, my goodness -- I can barely even look at one of those, let alone ride it!!!
you and hubby?
nicely depicted, Lyne. : )
I'd rather have a beer.
Somebody has to stay on the ground and take the pictures, right? That would be me. Peace
I went on something similar when I was a 'squaddy' out in Germany. The fair used to come to Lippstadt regularly and it had a more modern equivalent of one of these. Not only did you fly round and round but the hole thing tilted over so at its lowest you were near the ground and then, in an instant, up high with your feet seemingly kicking through clouds!
Nowadays I prefer to keep my feet on the ground and watch others have their wits frayed and their bodies subjected to unusual gravitational pulls! Great photo – it's got me thinking 'I could do that'!! – I want to be there!
Someone has to be there to catch them when they fall or steer them to a bench as they stagger away from the ride... I never pay to be tortured. I find enough ups and downs in life without adding to the dizziness on a ride... Very nice photo! The colors are inviting.
Oh, I can't do spinning rides! Me no likey! Me get sickey!
I feel a little woozy just looking at your photo because you captured the motion of it so well!
I've always loved to fly~ horses or carnival rides. I just don't like those steep plummets of the roller coasters~ too much like falling~ instead of flying. Great shot!!!
@slmret - Round and round they go. I'm much better off on the ground.
@RestlessButterfly - I like to feel what's under me. Feet do the job.
@speraquodvereor - It more than a ride. It's a life.
@Bricker59 - (opens two, and hands you one)
@shellisland - Yeppers! I thought I recognized you, Mary Sue.
@rojobe - Next fair that comes to town then, eh? (winks and coughs) Maybe you could get the picture from "up there". hehehe. My peeps who ride say it's the best of the fair. They are fliers.
@jacksoncroons - Sure does, Jackson. I love how he'll wink and then give me a crazy smile with his tongue hung out right before lift off. Then when he gets off , he'll throw his arm around my shoulders and squeeze them as he whispers in my ear, "That was great."
@murisopsis - Glad you liked it. I've always been the one to hold the coats and backpacks, snapping pictures and people watching. Life is indeed dizzy enough for me.
@WakeUpLaughing - We better go to the wine garden, Bubbles. We can recover our strength and sip a nice red or white wine.
@WildWomanOfTheWest - I hold my breath on rollercoasters too. I'll hold your hat WW. You go fly. Wave when you go by, so I can get a nice shot.
@Jaynebug - Yes, and you've appreciated it, riding along all the way. I admire you. I really do.
@Jaynebug - the wine garden I can handle!
